The Tunis International Book Fair…
The International Book Fair of Tunis is an annual cultural and trade event organized by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage Preservation. This event has developed over its sessions a great reputation as a cultural event, much anticipated professional among the largest across the Arab and Mediterranean countries through its sales, the quality of its services and the intensity of its Cultural Programs
Objectives
* To contribute to the promotion of books as a fundamental medium and mediator for the transmission of ideas and knowledge.
* To offer the public a choice opportunity of discovering the latest in intellectual, literary, scientific and artistic production in Tunisia and in the world.
* To contribute to the establishment of a tradition of reading and use of books.
* To create an enabling environment for developing exchange and partnerships in the spheres of creation, publishing and distribution and fostering contacts between professionals in the sector both on the national and international levels .
* To organise on the fringe of the fair any activity for the promotion of dialogue and exchange in intellectual, literary and/or artistic life.
Evolution
At the time of it’s creation in 1982, the Tunisian International book fair sessions were restricted to Arab books.
Since then it has gradually developed to acquire an international dimension.
Become one of the cultural events the most anticipated and one of the prominent landmarks of the cultural agenda in Tunisia,
Tunis Book Fair offers a framework for holding various cultural activities involving eminent personalities from the literary, the sciences and arts.
In addition, the fair of Tunis plays a recognized role in promoting relations between authors, literary agents, publishers, distributors and booksellers in Tunisia and elsewhere.
The public
In the previous session (2009), the Tunis book fair received around 200. 000 visitors representing all age groups, the various social and cultural categories and from all regions of the country.
Visitors come from the suburbs of Tunis and also from different parts of the country.
Through its international reach, the fair-Tunis hosts thousands of professionals visitors and foreign creators mostly North African, Arab and French
Space
The international book fair is held in Tunis in the” Kram Exhibition Parc” which is the largest exhibition space of the capital. The park offers all kinds of services professionals need to ensure successful participation.
